2026 TRACK AND FIELD REGISTRATION

NEW MEMBERS, please be advised that because Heart of Houston is affiliated with USA Track and Field, in order for your child to be a member of Heart of Houston's track and field/cross country programs,

 

1. A USA Track and Field (USATF) membership is required. Memberships to USATF cost $35 per athlete. Click the button below to be redirected to the USATF website.

 

2. IMPORTANT!!! Please don't skip this step! You must upload the athlete's birth certificate into the USATF database. Go to Profile, select Athlete Verification, Add Athlete Verification, and upload a copy of the birth certificate. The athlete’s birth certificate must be uploaded to validate their eligibility. Athletes without a validated birth certificate will be disqualified from competition.

3.Your athlete must also be attached to Heart of Houston. Our USATF club number is 25-10330.

NEW MEMBERS TRANSFERRING FROM ANOTHER RUNNING CLUB must first renew their USATF membership, then submit a transfer request. Transferring is done through the USATF Connect Member Portal. Heart of Houston’s USATF club number is 25-10330.

 

Please note that athletes cannot compete for two teams within a 90-day period.

 

RETURNING MEMBERS, please make sure that your USATF membership is current before completing this year’s registration.

 

*Registration is open to all athletes turning at least 7 years of age in the 2026 calendar year.

 

Invoicing for registration dues will take place once your athlete's two-week trial period has ended and all other registration requirements have been verified. Thus, no payment is due at this time.

 

Pricing:

 

$325 - Training and competition uniform.

 

$275 - Training only, no uniform.

 

*Each sibling added will receive a discount of $25 from their registration fee.

All athletes will go through a two-week trial period prior to receiving an invoice for payment.

*USATF youth track and field organizes athletes into age divisions to ensure fair competition based on the athlete's developmental stage. These age divisions are important for both individual and team competitions, and athletes compete in specific events based on their age group. All age groups are determined as of December 31 of the current competition year. Here’s a breakdown of the age divisions and the events athletes can participate in:

 

Age Divisions:

USATF divides youth athletes into the following age groups:

8 & Under (Age 8 and younger)- born 2018-2019

9-10 (Age 9 to 10)- born 2016-2017

11-12 (Age 11 to 12)- born 2014-2015

13-14 (Age 13 to 14)- born 2012-2013

15-16 (Age 15 to 16)- born 20010-2011

17-18 (Age 17 to 18)- born 2008-2009

*Athletes aged 7 on or before December 31 of the current year can participate in USATF national competitions.

 

**Athletes aged 18 on or before the last day of USATF National Junior Olympics are also eligible to participate, even if they turn 19 later that year.

 

Event Participation:

 

Athletes in the 7-8, 9,10 and 11-12 age divisions may compete in a maximum of three events per track meet (this includes field events and relays).

 

Athletes in the 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 age divisions may compete in a maximum of four events per track meet (this includes field events and relays).

 

The events that athletes can compete in vary depending on their age group. Here's a list of common events for each age division:

 

8 & Under (Age 8 and younger)

 

Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m

 

Field Events: long jump, shot put (2kg/ 4.4 lbs), mini javelin (300g)

 

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay

 

9-10 (Age 9 to 10)

 

Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m run, 1,500m race walk

Field Events: long jump, high jump, shot put (2.72 kg/6 lbs), mini javelin (300g)

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay

Triathlon, which consists of the shot put (2.72 kg/6 lbs), high jump and 200m (girls) or 400m (boys)

11-12 (Age 11 to 12)

 

Track Events:100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m run, 1,500m race walk, 3,000m run, 80m hurdles (30’)

Field Events: long jump, shot put (2.72kg/ 6 lbs), discus (1kg), mini javelin (300g), high jump

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay

Pentathlon, which consists of 80m hurdles (30’), shot put (2.72 kg/6 lb), high jump, long jump, 800m run (girls), 1,500m run (boys)

13-14 (Age 13 to 14)

Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m run, 3,000m run, 3,000m race walk, 2,000m steeplechase, 100m hurdles (girls/30’), 100m hurdles (boys/33’), 200m hurdles (both girls and boys hurdle 30’)

Field Events: high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put (boys 4kg/girls 2.72kg/6 lbs), discus (1kg), javelin (600g)

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay

Pentathlon, which consists of 100m hurdles (boys 33’/girls 30’), shot put (boys 4kg/ girls 2.72 kg/6 lb), high jump, long jump, 800m run (girls), 1,500m run (boys)

15-16 (Age 15 to 16)

Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m run, 3,000m run, 3,000m race walk, 2,000m steeplechase, 100m hurdles (girls/33’), 110m hurdles (boys/39’), 400m hurdles (girls 30’), 400m hurdles (boys 36’)

Field Events: high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put (boys 12 lb/girls 4kg), discus (boys 1.6kg/girls 1kg), javelin (boys 800g/girls 600g), hammer (boys 12lb/girls 4kg)

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay

Heptathlon (girls): 100m hurdles (33’), high jump, shot put (4kg), 200m, long jump, javelin (600g), 800m

Decathlon (boys): 100m, long jump, shot put (12 lbs), high jump, 400m, 110m hurdles (39’), discus (1k), pole vault, javelin (800g), 1,500m

17-18 (Age 17 to 18)

Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m run, 1,500m race walk, 3,000m run, 3,000m race walk, 2,000m steeplechase, 100m hurdles (girls/33’), 110m hurdles (boys/39’), 400m hurdles (girls 30’), 400m hurdles (boys 36’)

 

Field Events: high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put (boys 12 lb/girls 4kg), discus (boys 1.6kg/girls 1kg), javelin (boys 800g/girls 600g), hammer (boys 12lb/girls 4kg)

 

Relay Events: 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay

 

Heptathlon (girls): 100m hurdles (33’), high jump, shot put (4kg), 200m, long jump, javelin (600g), 800m
